YES, Jr. is a brand new program designed for kids with a passion for theater in grades 4-6. From January-March the YES, Jr. company will see three shows at Northern Stage with a masterclass beforehand and talkbacks afterwards. Over February vacation week they will rehearse and perform a 30 minute play that focuses on acting technique. Led by Director of Education Eric Love, this is the perfect program for young thespians who love to perform.

The cost of this three month program is $350.

The Little Mermaid: Sunday, January 7th: Noon-5pm
Noon-1:30pm: The Little Mermaid Masterclass with one of the actors in the production
1:30-2pm: Snack Time
2-4:30pm: The Little Mermaid Performance
4:30-5pm: The Little Mermaid Talkback with the Cast and Crew

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: Sunday, February 4th: Noon-4pm
This is a special performance by YES students and is open to friends and families of the Youth Ensemble Studio and YES, Jr.

Noon-1:30pm: Lion, Witch & Wardrobe Masterclass
1:30-2pm: Snack Time
2-3:30pm: Lion, Witch & Wardrobe Performance

Yo, Vikings!: Sunday, March 25th: Noon-4pm

Yo, Vikings! is YES Spring Main Stage Musical. This show is about 10-year-old Emma Katz who has a huge imagination. An imagination that’s so big that it gets her in trouble with her mom, her teacher, and her classmates.

YES, Jr. February Vacation Play:

Monday, February 19th – Friday, February 23rd: 1-5pm daily

This play is the core of the YES, Jr. experience. In the course of 5 days the YES, Jr. company will rehearse and perform a 30 minute play. Directed by Eric Love, the emphasis of this play will be on voice & speech, listening to your scene partner, responding honestly in the moment, and creating fun characters. There may be a few props and costumes, but the focus will be on the acting process rather than the production product. There will be a performance for friends and family at 4pm on Friday, February 23rd.
