A BREATHTAKING PAS-DE-DEUX

By SIMON STEPHENS
Directed by SARAH ELIZABETH WANSLEY
FEBRUARY 16 - MARCH 6
At the Byrne Theater
A 75-year old Irish butcher sits on a bench in St. Pancras Station. A 42-year old woman from New Jersey impulsively plants a kiss on his neck. What starts with an electric encounter between two strangers, grows, over six scenes, into a complex and life-changing relationship. Simon Stephens’ HEISENBERG lays bare the beauty in the natural unpredictability of human connection. The quietly powerful Heisenberg will bring us back into the much-missed Byrne Theater, for the first indoor main stage production since March 2020.

“Mesmerizing! The play is virtually a dissertation on opposites attracting…. the characters operate as unencumbered as subatomic particles, attracted or repulsed.”
“A jewel-box love story”
“The tone is delightfully unsettling. The audience is riveted, and the story is aimed straight at romance.”
“An enjoyable, at times profound, evening of theater.”
” A high-wire act of twists and turns.”
“This play with its science-y name gives us something more down to earth: Human Connection.”
