Northern Stage offers student matinees of selected professional main stage productions. In this season, we will bring stories of peace and healing to our community — through our work onstage and off. We hope you will work with us to allow the students in our region the opportunity to experience live theater. Your partnership allows us to change lives, one story at a time.
Northern Stage offers a complimentary conversation (talkback) with the cast after all student matinees. For select productions, we also offer study guides and short context videos to enrich the student matinee experience. Optional pre and post-show workshops are available to further enhance the theater-going experience. See below for more information on workshops.
Made possible through the generosity of Hypertherm Owner’s Philanthropic Endeavors (HOPE) Foundation, the Couch Family Foundation, and the Pussycat Foundation, each student is admitted for $19, and every ten students admits one adult chaperone free of charge. Additional adults are $34 each, tax exempt. If you attend a public performance, all students are $19. If there are over ten students, one adult chaperone will be admitted free of charge. All additional adults are $34 each, regardless of seating section. Please note: we are required by the State of Vermont to charge sales tax for all public performances.
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. As you fill out the Student Matinee Booking google form, you will need to supply the following information: what percentage of students in your school receive free or reduced lunches, how much money your school has budgeted for field trips/arts enrichment, and whether or not you have funding available from other sources and then you will supply that information on the Student Matinee booking google form.

Inspired by the true story of the back-channel talks, unlikely friendships, and quiet heroics that led to the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords between the Israelis and Palestinians, Oslo is a deeply personal story set against a complex historical canvas, a story about the individuals behind world history and their all too human ambitions. Oslo is “thrilling, a colossus,” raves Ben Brantley of The New York Times. At this cultural moment when finding common ground is paramount, “Oslo gives us hope” (Joe Dziemianowicz, Daily News). Winner of the 2017 Tony Award for Best Play. We’re thrilled to present this regional premiere.

A tale of love and longing, Dear Elizabeth follows the beautiful and bittersweet friendship between Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell.
