King James

by RAJIV JOSEPH
directed by abigail jean-baptiste

JANUARY 29 - FEBRUARY 16, 2025

TWO FRIENDS FIND THEIR GAME.

LeBron James’ extraordinary tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers brought hope to a city that had lost its sense of promise. In Rajiv Joseph’s powerful new play, superfans Matt and Shawn are brought together through their shared worship of “King” James. Over 12 years, from LeBron’s rookie season to an NBA Championship, the men navigate a turbulent friendship through their shared love of basketball, reminding us of the power of sports to connect, inspire, and unite us in good times and bad.

"All the time we have invested. In him. All the money. All the games we went to. The basis of our entire friendship... LeBron for the win, LeBron for the win... "
