Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd! Stephen Sondheim’s thrilling, darkly comic masterpiece comes to Northern Stage in a special In Concert presentation. Featuring one of the most electrifying scores in musical theater, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street tells the infamous story of a wronged barber seeking revenge in the streets of Victorian London. This concert reading puts Sondheim’s unforgettable music front and center, performed live by an extraordinary cast and orchestra for an electrifying theatrical event.

Kyle Brand is an actor, director and choreographer. His regional acting credits include Mary Poppins (Alabama Shakespeare Festival), Waitress and Oliver (Pioneer Theatre Co.), Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Matilda (Northern Stage), A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas (Hartford Stage Company). As a director, his work includes Side by Side by Sondheim (Northern Stage), Tenderly, Avenue Q, Altar Boyz (Playhouse on Park), Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees (Monomoy Theatre), and Titanic (The Hartt School). Alex Hoyt practically grew up at Northern Stage, beginning his theatrical journey in the BridgeUP: Theater in the Schools program. Over the years, Alex has appeared in several Main Stage and Education productions here at Northern Stage. A few highlights include, Bruce in Matilda, Kurt in The Sound of Music, Mr. Beaver in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and James in The Railway Children. You may have also seen Alex at Kimball Union Academy, where he performed in 12 Angry Men, Godspell, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Little Shop of Horrors, Eurydice, Chicago, Dracula, and Les Misérables. Currently, Alex is a rising sophomore pursuing a BFA in Musical Theater at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Home for the summer, he is incredibly excited to return to Northern Stage and reconnect with this lovely community.
Carol Dunne is a passionate Stephen Sondheim lover and is thrilled to be a part of this wonderful company. Her day job is Producing Artistic Director of Northern Stage.
